Field Day Fun!

Enjoy the photos from Field Day that are posted below.  Thank you to a certain Recess Father for sending them.  If you have others please email them to me and I will post them.

Thank you everyone for the end of year gifts.  For those of you who could not make it I have to share with you the clever way a certain Room Mother (married to the aforementioned Recess Father) had the students deliver the gifts to me.  Each student read a line from the poem below or delivered a gift card to me.

Thank You Mrs. Crofts
While we have had a wonderful year
We understand that Summer is near.
The things we learned both great and small
Will help us prepare for the Fall.
The question we have in our minds:
How will Mrs. Crofts her Summer find.
The Summer brings flowers and sun.
Mrs. Crofts will need some clothes for fun.
(A Bon Ton gift card was delivered at this point)
Reading gives Mrs. Crofts pleasure.
We hope she finds new books to treasure.
(A Barnes and Noble card was delivered)
Yummy food at a special dinner,
Mrs. Crofts will feel a winner.
(Village Eatery gift card)
Relax and have lunch with friends
Before the summer comes to an end.
(Scripts gift card)
Mrs. Crofts we thank you so
It will be difficult to go.
3rd grade seems so far away,
But we have to say goodbye today.

I was so surprised and thrilled with this presentation.  Thank you again.
It is always hard for me to believe the year has sped by so fast.  I am proud of everything our children have done this year.  Each day we strove to fit everything in and as I look back I can see that we did a lot in 180 days.   I am so grateful for the children and parents who helped me this year.  DeSales really does have the most supportive parents of any school I have been associated with.  I can't thank you enough.  I will miss your children, thank you for letting me grow with them this year.

We All Scream For Ice Cream!

For our last "cooking" session of the year we made vanilla ice cream in a Ziploc bag  Below are some photos, but if you would like to try it yourself, click on this link: http://homeparents.about.com/od/recipesandcrafts/r/zip_icecream.htm

Most of the children liked it but a few complained that it was salty.  We didn't put salt in the ingredients but you do use it in the outer bag to help the ice cream freeze.  I think some got mixed in when they were spooning it out.  Fair warning if you try making it yourself.

We had the first showings of our Fractured Fairytales today and the reviews were terrific!  I am so proud of their reading fluency and expression.  What wonderful actors we have in this class.  We are looking forward to the parents coming on Thursday.  See below for photos of the action.

Goldilocks is tasting the soup.

Our preschool reading buddies were our first audience.

The three bullfrogs return to find their soup missing.

Spiderella is left at home to clean the house.

The prince makes friends with Spiderella while the ladybugs angrily watch.

Prince Charming does not charm the princess.

The mother warns Little Late Riding Hood not to be tardy.

The skateboard boy is cheated out of his skateboard.

The grandmother is tricked into going into the cellar by the Tricky Monkey.

Little Late Riding Hood notices that "grandma" looks different than she remembers.
