Less Than a Month to Go!

Well, July flew right by and we have less than a month before we head back to the classroom.  I hope everyone is enjoying their summer break!  Make sure to keep reading.  The Lockport Library has some wonderful reading programs and challenges to make reading even more fun.  Also, check out some of the reading links I've posted for games that improve reading skills.      We will be working hard to learn our addition facts the first few weeks of school.  Get a jump on it by practicing with flash cards, websites, and math games.  One of the games we play at school is called Math War and you only need a deck of cards to play it.  The game is just like regular War except that you use addition:  Deal out the cards to each player until there are none left.  Each player turns over two cards and adds them up.  The player with the largest sum gets all of the cards.  If there is a tie, turn two more over and the one with the largest sum gets everything.  Play continues until one person has all of the cards.                               Enjoy the rest of your summer, I can't wait to meet everyone at the picnic in August!
